Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) successfully concluded the pre-Hajj operations, which involved flights from Karachi to Jeddah. This milestone achievement aimed to facilitate pilgrims and was completed last night. During this period, a significant number of 61,467 pilgrims were accommodated through a total of 268 flights. The flights served a diverse group, including 41,000 government-sponsored pilgrims. 19,000 private pilgrims, and 600 staff members stationed in Madina and Jeddah.
It’s important to note that the pre-Hajj operations began on May 21 and continued until June 22. This allowed ample time for pilgrims to make necessary preparations and travel arrangements. The flights departed directly from major cities such as Karachi, Islamabad, Lahore, Multan, Faisalabad, Sialkot, and Peshawar. Ensuring convenient access for pilgrims from various regions.
PIA achieved an impressive level of punctuality during the pre-Hajj operations. With 94% of the 268 flights departing on time or slightly ahead of schedule. Out of the total flights, 249 departed promptly, contributing to a seamless travel experience for the pilgrims.
Although a few delays were encountered during the Hajj operation, they were limited to only 19 flights and were attributed to various reasons. The CEO of PIA expressed appreciation for the teams involved in maintaining a high rate of timely departures throughout the operation. PIA is now preparing for the post-Hajj operation, which is scheduled to commence on July 2 and will continue until August 2.
