Mohammad Amir Breaks Record for Most Maiden Overs in T20s

In a stunning display of bowling prowess, Pakistani left-arm pacer Mohammad Amir has etched his name into T20 history by setting a new record for the most maiden overs bowled by a fast bowler. Achieving this milestone in the ongoing Caribbean Premier League (CPL) 2024, Amir has surpassed India’s Bhuvneshwar Kumar’s previous record, claiming the top spot with 25 maiden overs.

During Thursday’s thrilling clash between the Antigua and Barbuda Falcons and the Barbados Royals, Amir demonstrated his mastery of the game. Defending a challenging total of 177 runs, he started the innings with a bang, delivering a maiden over against the powerful Rakheem Cornwall. The over was a testament to Amir’s skill and precision, conceding just a single leg-bye.

Amir’s latest record-setting feat places him third on the all-time list of most maiden overs in T20 history. He trails only West Indies’ Sunil Narine, who tops the chart with 30 maidens, and Bangladesh’s Shakib Al Hasan, who has 26. Notably, Amir stands as the leading fast bowler in this category, outshining both Bhuvneshwar Kumar and Jasprit Bumrah, who have 24 and 21 maidens, respectively.
This impressive achievement not only highlights Amir’s exceptional talent but also cements his status as one of the premier bowlers in T20 cricket. With this record, Amir continues to build on his illustrious career, showcasing his ability to perform under pressure and contribute significantly to his team’s success
