Cricket World Cup 2023, the most awaited cricketing event of the year is not so far now. ICC men CWC 2023 is going to begin from October 5 and will last till November 19, 2023. International Cricket Council (ICC) is organizing the event and this time India is going to host it.

This race of champions is going to be 13th edition of Cricket World Cup for men. Teams will play a total of 48 one day internationals during the event. 45 of them are the group matches, in which each team will play the other nine teams at least once and after that there will be 2 semifinals and a final.

Teams Participating In the Event:

Overall ten teams will take part in the event. 9 of them are already final and 10th team is yet TBD after completion of qualifier round. Already finalized teams include: India (The host), England, Australia, Pakistan, New Zealand, Bangladesh, South Africa, Afghanistan and Sri Lanka. Sri Lanka joined the race after qualifier round.

The Defending Champion:

Team England is the defending champion of last Cricket World Cup, played in 2019. In the knockout stage, England and New Zealand won their respective semi-finals to qualify for the final, at Lord’s Cricket Stadium in London. The final ended in a tie after the match ended with both teams scoring 241 runs. It was followed by the first Super Over in an ODI; England won the title, their first, on the boundary count back rule after the Super Over also finished level. 

Cricket World Cup 2023 First Match:

The group stage will begin with the match between the finalists of the 2019 Cricket World Cup, New Zealand and England at Narendra Modi Stadium.

Cricket World Cup 2023 and Pakistan:

Initially Team Pakistan was reluctant to play World Cup in India. This was due to security concerns and due to India’s refusal to play Asia Cup matches in Pakistan. Now the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) wrote a letter to Government of Pakistan to issue security guidelines regarding WC2023.

Pakistan will play its 9 league matches on 5 different venues in India. Team green will play its first match on October 6, 2023 at Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium, Hyderabad against the first qualifier of qualifier round (to be Sri Lanka).

Pakistan will play its first match against the host team India on 15 October 2023 at Narendra Modi Stadium, Ahmadabad.

Pakistani team and its management are hoping high to achieve high in the tournament. Pakistan Cricket Team is one of the favorites for WC 2023 and is most unpredictable team in the world of cricket. They have tendency to turn tables any time. Other than that Pakistani Team has some extra ordinary talent both in bowling and bating.

Cricket World Cup 2023: West indies Out from Race:

It is quite unfortunate to know that a two time world champion and one of the world’s strongest team West Indies failed to qualify this time. Their coach and captain say bad fielding and poor coordination is the reason behind this failure.
