Bluesky Adds Self-labelling For Posts And a Dedicated Media Tab For Profiles

Bluesky, a social network like Twitter, now lets users put tags on their posts to help filter them automatically. These tags are starting with categories for content that might not be suitable for everyone, like “Suggestive,” “Nudity,” or “Porn.” People can choose these tags by tapping a shield icon when they make a post. More tags will be added later, according to the company.

Bluesky also has settings to control what you see. They have a page where you can choose to hide or see a warning when you come across posts about different things, like explicit pictures, spam, violence, and things that hint at something.

Before, Bluesky was already trying to stop some content from showing up based on what users wanted. These new tags will help add warnings to posts or make them go away completely.

Bluesky has been talked about a lot lately because it didn’t do a good job of stopping harmful talk, especially about race. They were even letting people use bad words in their usernames until recently.

Bluesky is letting users put tags on their posts just like Tumblr did. This is so people who don’t want to see certain things can use filters to hide them.

Bluesky is also making profiles better. They’re adding a “Media” section so people can easily see pictures and videos someone has shared. They’re also giving more info about posts that someone blocked, but some users don’t want to see those blocked posts at all.

Last month, Bluesky made a new way to see what’s popular, called “Discover.” It shows posts from people you follow and others who are similar to you. Even though Bluesky is still by invitation only, it already got a million app installs last month.
