Biparjoy : A Tropical Cyclone in Arabian Sea is Likely to Landfall in Pakistan Today

A horrifying tropical cyclone “Biparjoy”, which landed in Gujarat state of India yesterday, is expected to make landfall in coastal areas of Pakistan today. According to National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA), speed of cyclone with which it may hit Pakistan is between 120-140 km/hour.  This speed is likely to boost up to 160 km/hour.

Biparjoy Landfall Time and Area:

Reports and live tracking of the cyclone Biparjoy claim that it will hit Keti Bandar of Sindh coastal area at around 11:00 hours today, that is Thursday, June 15, 2023. But the exact time and location also depend upon the speed and direction of tropical cyclones.

The cyclone is likely to hit other areas.:

Other surrounding areas and districts on high alert to face the consequences of hyper cyclone Biparjoy include Tharparkar, Sujawal, Thatta and Badin.

Biparjoy Hourly Updates:

The official website of NDMA is updating the situation of the Biparjoy cyclone heading towards Pakistan on an hourly basis. This update includes speed, coordinates, expected time and distance to reach the country.

Biparjoy and Government’s Evacuation Plan:

As many as 80,000 people are evacuating from high-alert areas in response to Government’s call for evacuation. Chief Minister Sindh, Mr Murad Ali Shah said they are not asking people to leave. But ordered them to evacuate from the red alert areas.

Government school buildings have set up camps for evacuees due to the closure of schools during summer vacations.

Emergency Services to Tackle the Situation:

Law enforcement agencies, including the police, have deployed personnel in the area to prevent people from approaching the sea and coastal areas.

Apart from that, to avoid any incident, flight operations in the area are also on halt. All the emergency services, hospitals and rescue departments. Both government and private NGOs are already on high alert to deal with the notorious tropical cyclone.

Authorities ask people residing in and around the red alert area to remain vigilant and stay in their houses.. Avoid going near coastal areas. Do not put yourself in danger.
